Tech Talk: Things You
Can Do to Increase Your
Web Site Visits

Before we get
into the
different ways
to get traffic
to your site
using search
engines, I need
to mention that
most Web site
traffic does not
come from search
engines. The
majority of your
Web site traffic
will come from
other forms of
marketing like
your mail-outs
and your
networking. When
you send a
marketing
package to a
potential
client, they
will often look
at your Web
site. When you
give a business
card to someone
you spoke to and
made a
connection with,
they will often
look at your Web
site (especially
if you mention
it to them). If
you get a case
and do a good
job, make sure
you have shown
your Web site to
that client and
make sure they
know it. Make
them save it to
their favorites
so they always
have your
contact
information.
When that client
refers you to
someone else who
has a case, they
will often tell
them about your
Web site so they
can get more
information
about you. This
stuff is
important. Get
out there and
make your own
success. Your
success does not
come to you!
Now that I got
that off my
shoulders. There
are also some
things you can
do to get more
attention from
the search
engines. Many
search engines
are different.
They all use
different
methods to
determine who
will be ranked
high. Your site
has to be ready
for anything
that comes
along. The one
thing that will
help your
rankings in all
the search
engines is a lot
of keyword
occurrences.
Keywords are
important words
that describe
your Web site
content and
company. When I
say you need a
lot of Keyword
occurrences, I
mean you need
those keywords
several times on
your site. Let's
say someone
types "Legal
Nurse Consultant
Florida" in a
search engine.
When looking for
the best
results, the
search engine is
going to
consider which
Web site had the
most occurrences
of those
keywords that
were searched.
So how do you
get a lot of
keyword
occurrences? To
do it by having
plenty of text
in the body of
your Web site.
It is okay to
have a lot of
text for this
reason. However,
you also want
people to read
the site easily
as well.
Therefore, you
want to try to
use as few
paragraphs as
possible. Break
the text up
using bullets
and lots of
different
headings to
define key
topics on a Web
site page.

and expand on
the text that is
there so that we

keyword
occurrences.
